When your best friend from high school gets married, there is no choice but to fly out to the great state of Wisconsin to shoot her wedding!
I’ve known Amy since freshman year of high school. We instantly clicked and we’re pretty inseparable - we got in trouble together (sorry Aileen), comforted each other through teenage heartache, and were basically Thing 1 and Thing 2 in MC’s class for two years in a row.
Like a lot of high school friendships, we lost contact after graduation. She started her family and I started mine. The joys of email and social media though - we always kept in contact. I cried when she emailed me about the passing of her dad (he was one amazing soul). We talked through messenger when we were having rough times in life. We always managed to keep in touch. Even if it was just a simple “Hey”!
When Amy met Chris, I watched from across the country as I saw my friend get her smile back (anyone who knows her - knows she is ALWAYS smiling). I saw how incredibly happy she was. My heart was so happy for her. So I was super stoked when she contacted me to let me know that her and Chris were getting married - I may have done a little dance. Don’t judge me.
I hadn’t seen Amy since our 10 year high school reunion - so it’d been a couple years. I won’t disclose how many. Haha. When I walked out of the airport, I was greeted by the biggest smile and the biggest hug ever. The drive back was filled with us taking non-stop (sorry Chris and Howie). No time had passed for us. It’s like we had just seen each other the week before.
Capturing this wedding was special for me. Not having her dad there to walk her down the isle or dance with her - I knew was weighing heavy on everyone’s heart. I am so glad her brother, Jason stepped in for those tasks. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room when it came to the brother/sister dance (step-in for the father/daughter dance). Jason chose to dance Amy to the song that their dad had sang to their mom on their wedding day. Thanks to the awesome Uncle who was able to pull the audio from that wedding video! It was so incredibly emotional and I’m pretty sure it’s the only time I’ve seen Jason be serious.
Thanks you Chris and Amy for letting me capture your day! I am so honored to have been able to come out there and capture your day. I love you guys and Amy I miss your face so so so much!
